Strictly speaking, Evenson's business trip could not be considered taking refuge for self-preservation. At the time, he had not considered that at all.
At first, he had thought Frigga had summoned him to the heavens merely for a simple audience, and that he would be back in a day or two at most. Yet one matter after another had arisen, dragging things out until they finally came to a temporary conclusion after so long. Still, it was quite a coincidence—without meaning to, he had actually resolved all sorts of problems he would have encountered on Earth.
The reason he had vaguely told Coulson it was for self-preservation was mainly because the experience was too difficult to explain, so he had simply brushed it off. As for Coulson wanting to learn from it—heh, was that something anyone could just imitate? He had ascended to heaven. If Coulson had the skills, then let him ascend on the spot too.
But unexpectedly, the more one tried to avoid trouble, the more trouble one encountered.
"Umbrella Corporation? How could you..." Evenson had been confused at first by Coulson's question, but he quickly understood. "Nick Fury told you?"
Evenson remembered that before this trip, during his private meeting with Nick Fury, he had already revealed his connection to Umbrella Corporation. At the time, he had felt there was no longer any need to hide it. It seemed Nick Fury had not truly become a hands-off boss after all. He had still told Coulson some important intelligence.
Coulson nodded. Though he had already received the intelligence from Nick Fury, he still wanted to hear confirmation firsthand. "When did you begin working with them? Was it after S.H.I.E.L.D. fell... or before?"
He hoped Evenson had only begun working with Umbrella Corporation after S.H.I.E.L.D. collapsed, because that would
