What was going on? What had happened while he had been away from Kamar-Taj? Really, a person just couldn't stay out of touch with society for too long.
Kaecilius shook his head and sighed. Kamar-Taj had become so unfamiliar to him, always pulling ridiculous stunts! The London Sanctum had taught him what the hammer of civilization was. And now the New York Sanctum had come up with this anti-theft door.
It looked expensive, too. Not only was it made of such hard material that he could not chop through it, but it was also engraved with magical runes. Even if he tried to teleport directly inside, it would block him. It truly was a combination of magic and technology.
It was just a little ugly. It had been painted bright red all over, like a giant red envelope, and a damned voice-activated password red envelope at that. The words displayed by this voice-controlled switch... were they magical incantations or some country's language? And what counted as the standard pronunciation? Did he have to use that country's standard pronunciation or a dialect? Or translate them into English words? Latin was possible. Greek was not out of the question either...
How long would it take to test them one by one? Kaecilius frowned, but then another thought occurred to him. Why did he have to open the door? Revenge was indeed why he had come, but the most important thing was destroying the Sanctum core and welcoming the Great Lord's descent. The core was not inside the door anyway. If those mages wanted to hide in there, then they could keep hiding.
"Where are you going?" After coming back to himself, Kaecilius looked up and found that Klayya had turned around and was walking away. "Are you running away too?"
Klayya frowned
