Scott gently adjusted the plain glasses on his nose. Elizabeth's anonymous report to S.H.I.E.L.D. about Gospel Company making contact with Bloody Tongue members had all been predicted by him. "They're all plutocratic families that have lasted for generations. It won't be easy to subdue and recruit them. It would be abnormal if they didn't have such thoughts."
"To test our capacity and methods?" Evenson casually found a seat. This was truly his first time dealing with this sort of business negotiation. Besides, he sometimes really couldn't understand the thought processes of people with too much money. "What a pain. Why think so much when there's nothing to think about? Can't they just bow their heads and submit? They're not following the script at all!"
"The contents of this meeting are unprecedentedly shocking to them. The funding our plan requires should likewise be unprecedentedly enormous for their families, and the obstacles and challenges we face are also unprecedented." After using "unprecedented" three times in a row, Scott sneered. "If they fail to recognize this, or if they clearly know it yet let a few words overwhelm their minds and blindly follow along, then that proves they are brainless idiots with no value in participating in our great cause!"
Our great cause? Evenson raised an eyebrow. He realized Scott was particularly good at acting familiar. In just a few sentences, he had swept Evenson into the group as well. It seemed he had not neglected the art of persuasion at all.
Still, persuaders had always emphasized finding both common ground and differences. On second thought, Evenson felt Scott's words made perfect sense. Even when buying vegetables on the street, people picked and chose, checked the weight, and haggled over prices. This
