S.H.I.E.L.D. had indeed detected the abnormal energy fluctuations as well and was paying them close attention. Then, the very next day, S.H.I.E.L.D. detected another high-energy reading at the same location.

Moreover, after comparison, this energy fluctuation proved identical to the Bifrost's. They therefore concluded that an Asgardian had come to Earth. Naturally, the mission to make contact with the Asgardian was assigned to Coulson's special operations team, which had the most experience in such matters. And, just as Evenson had expected, he was summoned.

"Guys, can anyone give me a hand?" Melinda was gathering the agents in the conference room to arrange the operation when Evenson's shout rang out halfway through the briefing. "I brought some cargo with me this time. Fragile cargo, handle with care. Who's going to help me move it?"

That was certainly new. In the past, Evenson had always taken things off the plane—so much stuff that it had practically triggered a special anti-corruption campaign within S.H.I.E.L.D. Why had he brought a gift this time?

Everyone was curious, so they all rushed downstairs at once. Only when they arrived did they see what Evenson had brought. He was sitting cross-legged on the floor beside a stretcher. Skye lay on it, dressed in a hospital gown and unconscious.

"How could you bring her here like this?" Simmons cried out on the spot. She knew how severe Skye's injuries had been. Yet now, apart from that oversized hospital gown, Skye had no medical equipment on her at all and had simply been laid on a stretcher. It was practically murder.

Disregarding everything else, she immediately called Fitz over and had him carry Skye into the infirmary and settle her onto a hospital bed. With a panicked expression, she began attaching monitoring devices such as an ECG to Skye.
