These zombie police officers immediately opened fire on Coulson and the others with the guns in their hands. After their gunfire began, more than twenty zombies rushed out of the bar.
They were probably the biker gang mentioned in the earlier report, all dressed in leather jackets and pants like street racers, wielding a motley assortment of weapons as they joined the fight.
Although their movements were stiff and their aim was poor, the weapons in their hands were real guns. A single hit could kill, so none of Coulson's people dared take that risk. They could only lead the agents into temporary cover while preparing to switch to live ammunition.
Anyone could tell that tranquilizer guns would be useless against things like these. They were not even sure whether live rounds would work.
