Hela's confession was undeniably shocking.
Setting everything else aside, she had actually revealed that Odin himself might have murdered the king and seized the throne. She truly had no concern for keeping family scandals within the family. Still, considering how casually she spoke of raising a rebellion as though it were a glorious achievement, it was not all that surprising.
Hela's meaning was also perfectly clear: royal power was not bestowed by anything or anyone. It had to be won with one's own hands. If you wanted the throne, then duel me. Defeat me, and the throne was yours!
Sif, however, was deeply dismissive of that approach.
What was this supposed to be? Asgard might have been founded on martial strength, but it was still an advanced civilization in the universe. Could something as important as the succession to the throne really be decided through a graceless duel?
Forget Asgard, the so-called realm of the gods. Even in a backwater like Earth's Midgard, what country decided its king by having two people strip naked and fight in front of a waterfall? How was that any different from a troop of monkeys fighting over the monkey king's position?
So Sif looked at Evenson, shook her head, and said, "You actually intend to support a madwoman like this?"
"Heh..." Evenson gave a cold laugh. "You overestimate me. I already told you, does my support even matter? This is a transfer of power within the Asgardian royal family. What right does an outsider like me have to comment on it?"
Evenson was doing his utmost to distance himself from the matter. When he had first submitted to Hela, the goddess, it had been entirely out of necessity. He could not beat her, and he could not run away, so all he could do
