Peggy Carter wasn't unaware of the Winter Soldier's true identity, nor was she ignorant of how the Winter Soldier had been brainwashed and controlled by Hydra all these years. Yet during today's battle, she had relentlessly pursued and attacked the Winter Soldier, looking as though she wouldn't stop until she killed him. It made no sense at all.
Why was that? It couldn't be because she thought another man had stolen her man, leaving her, the official wife, nowhere to save face, could it? It was fine to entertain that kind of thought privately for amusement, but it absolutely couldn't be taken seriously. That was why Evenson had wanted to examine Peggy Carter. He had only wondered whether the Demon Heart had made her violent and berserk. There were absolutely no other thoughts involved. Absolutely none!
But now he found no sign of that in Peggy Carter, and she seemed remarkably calm. So he guessed, "Do you want to avenge Howard and his wife?"
Peggy Carter had shared a deep, long-standing bond with Tony Stark's parents. Their feelings for one another had surpassed friendship and were closer to family. Yet Howard and his wife had indeed died at the Winter Soldier's hands—Bucky's hands. It wasn't unreasonable for her to take out her anger on Bucky because of that.
"Howard..." Peggy Carter sighed regretfully. "Not entirely because of that. I understand that it wasn't Bucky's own will. Back then, he was merely a tool. That tragedy shouldn't be blamed on him. But..." Peggy Carter suddenly turned around. "Not everyone can be as understanding as I am."
"Tony?" Evenson asked tentatively.
"Tony is a pretty good kid." Peggy Carter suddenly smiled. "But he's also a very emotional person, just like his father. A father and son like them should have gotten along
