Chi Xiu saw clearly now. They really were ships, one after another, each one enormous, casting vast shadows over the sea.
Chi Xiu could no longer stay calm.
He should have been happy to see ships, but based on what he had learned about this world from yesterday until now, humans were tiny and helpless, living in poverty and misery. So his first instinct was not to believe that the creatures aboard those ships were human.
How long had he even been in this illusion? Yet one thing after another had come at him without pause.
"Look at the sea!"
Chi Xiu immediately warned them.
The siblings turned around, and both were stunned by the sight on the sea.
They rose to their feet where they stood, staring blankly in that direction.
"Are those fish that surfaced from the deep sea?"
Da Da asked in disbelief.
Chi Xiu stared at him in shock. "You've never seen ships?"
"Ships? Those are ships? How can ships be that huge, and that tall? Won't they topple over?"
Da Da felt his worldview shatter. It was the first time he had seen ships like that.
In his mind, ships were supposed to be nothing more than tiny wooden rafts.
"Forget whether they're ships or not. I want to know whether the ones on them are human!"
Chi Xiu asked anxiously.
"We don't know."
Xiao Xiao shook her head fearfully. She glanced at the supplies they had gathered beside them, as though they seemed more important than their lives.
"Let's hide first. Is there somewhere concealed? A cellar, a cave, anything like that?"
Chi Xiu felt it was necessary to make a workable suggestion. These siblings had never seen anything like this and were completely incapable of making a decision in such circumstances.
"Yes."
