Attempting One-Handed Seals (Please Bookmark)

Uchiha Kiyoshi was not particularly interested in the Samurai Body Tempering Method itself. What interested him was the reason behind the Samurai's lifespan.

"That makes sense. It was still a system capable of cultivating someone to Kage-level. I never paid attention to the Samurai cultivation system before. All I can say is that the Samurai truly declined and were replaced by the relatively fast-track ninja system."

On his way home, Uchiha Kiyoshi reflected on what he had gained that day.

Compared to when he had left, Uchiha Kiyoshi no longer walked with such heavy steps. He felt much lighter.

Having finally found a possible breakthrough, Uchiha Kiyoshi naturally would not let it go. He carefully considered at what point in the Samurai system the body was nourished, resulting in a longer lifespan.

"Samurai... I never paid attention before. What exactly did their power rely on? Could it be this so-called Qi? That is possible, but what exactly is Qi? It could not have appeared out of nowhere, could it?"

Uchiha Kiyoshi continued pondering and came up with the concept of Qi, but where did Qi come from?

Just as Chakra was formed by combining Physical Energy and Spiritual Energy, Qi should have its own source as well. Could it be Physical Energy?

Physical Energy!

"Physical Energy? That makes sense. Samurai could only improve through relentless physical training, so Physical Energy would be a reasonable answer."

At this point, Uchiha Kiyoshi had basically found his direction.

"When I researched Physical Energy before, I never studied its effects on the body. I was careless."

Uchiha Kiyoshi gave a bitter smile.

But then he remembered that Physical Energy could not actually be controlled. Even when he had researched it before, he could only keep sensing it and had been completely unable to control it.

Could he only cultivate Qi through the Samurai's methods?

No, there had to be other ways. If he kept trying slowly, he would eventually succeed.

Uchiha Kiyoshi stopped thinking about it. He felt as though he was becoming obsessed, so he decided to rest properly and continue his research tomorrow. With that in mind, he did not waste time. After returning home, eating dinner, practicing hand seals for two hours, and applying ointment, he went to sleep.

The next day, Uchiha Kiyoshi rose full of energy. Remembering yesterday's discovery, a smile appeared on his lips.

"Ah! A wonderful day has begun."

Perhaps yesterday's discovery had finally untied the knot in his heart, but Uchiha Kiyoshi was in an excellent mood all day.

While carrying out his usual training, he also considered how he could control Physical Energy and use it to nourish his body.

However, when it was time to research hand seals, Uchiha Kiyoshi put those thoughts aside and focused on the seals.

"My research into hand seals is already on the right track. Although I can figure out many things, without enough Ninjutsu, it is difficult to understand what each circulation represents. So there is no need to rush. One hour of research every day is enough.

"One-Handed Seals, on the other hand, are worth working on. After all, they could come in handy at any time."

Uchiha Kiyoshi reduced his hand seal research time to one hour, leaving himself more time for training.

Since the special training had ended, Uchiha Kiyoshi had not practiced throwing kunai for more than half a month.

Now, he could use part of the time he had freed up to practice throwing kunai.

After three months of special training, Uchiha Kiyoshi could basically guarantee that he would hit the bullseye—provided it was a stationary target. Against moving targets, he could at least hit the target itself.

However, his foundation had already been laid. As long as he trained step by step, Uchiha Kiyoshi's Shurikenjutsu would improve rapidly.

Of course, he had only decided to shorten his hand seal research time today, so he would not train with kunai today.

Uchiha Kiyoshi decided to use the extra time to attempt One-Handed Seals and see whether he could work out the corresponding hand signs.

Uchiha Kiyoshi had his own approach to researching One-Handed Seals.

Hand seals were ultimately nothing more than a means of manipulating Chakra. As long as he found a set of one-handed signs that could replace the Chakra manipulation required by two-handed seals, he could initially achieve One-Handed Seals.

The truly difficult part was organizing all one-handed signs into the simplest possible system.

However, Uchiha Kiyoshi had no intention of doing that.

For one thing, it would be far too troublesome and require a massive amount of time. The cost-effectiveness was not high.

For another, Uchiha Kiyoshi was only experimenting. He merely needed to be able to use One-Handed Seals for a few commonly used Ninjutsu.

Besides, what Uchiha Kiyoshi truly cared about was Ninjutsu that required no seals.

Even without researching it much, Uchiha Kiyoshi could imagine that One-Handed Seals would be extremely troublesome and require far more signs than the twelve two-handed seals. Therefore, unless both hands were inconvenient to use or he needed to catch an enemy off guard, Uchiha Kiyoshi had little need for One-Handed Seals.

"I cannot invest too much into researching One-Handed Seals. At this stage, it is only an experiment.

"After I learn Ninjutsu, I just need to figure out corresponding One-Handed Seal methods for the few most practical techniques."

Uchiha Kiyoshi broke down the twelve two-handed seals and performed them with one hand, recording the corresponding Chakra reactions.

By the time he finished, including his hour of research on two-handed seals, he had spent about the same amount of time as before.

After finishing his research, Uchiha Kiyoshi headed to the Archives again to continue looking through materials.

When he arrived at the entrance to the Archives, Uchiha Kiyoshi bowed and greeted the old man at the door before entering under the man's strange gaze.

Uchiha Kiyoshi could not make sense of that strange look, but it was not important. He needed to look through the materials first.

Upon reaching the medical section, Uchiha Kiyoshi did not search for materials related to Samurai anymore.

Having already found a direction from the Samurai system, what Uchiha Kiyoshi needed now was a method to control Physical Energy. The Samurai's methods did not offer much reference.

Based on what Uchiha Kiyoshi had learned yesterday, Samurai body tempering only nourished the body inadvertently. They were not aware of how the process worked and might not even know when it began. Therefore, Uchiha Kiyoshi did not waste time on the Samurai's methods and instead turned his attention to Medical Ninjutsu.

Although there were no genuine Medical Ninjutsu scrolls here, he could still find some related materials.

Uchiha Kiyoshi remembered seeing a claim somewhere that the ultimate Yin Release was Spiritual Energy, while the ultimate Yang Release was Physical Energy.

It was probably from some fanfiction. Uchiha Kiyoshi did not know whether it was correct, but that did not stop him from seeking a method through Medical Ninjutsu.

Medical Ninjutsu was a method of stimulating human cells at a wound site to make wounds heal rapidly. It was, to a certain extent, an exploitation of the potential of human cells. Yet Uchiha Kiyoshi still noticed something within it.

"Ninjutsu itself has no healing effect. The cells are stimulated, producing the corresponding healing effect—but how does that heal the wound?

"It should be that the cells are stimulated and begin dividing, then the wound heals. But newly formed cells are extremely fragile. Especially for large wounds, after treatment, the tissue is all newly generated. Its strength would be far inferior to other parts of a ninja's body that had been trained over many years. How is that resolved? Could it really depend entirely on the ninja training it back up?

"Could it be Physical Energy? The cells produce a large amount of Physical Energy, allowing the cells at the wound site to catch up with the original cells in a short time. Even if they cannot fully catch up, they should at least become somewhat stronger instead of relying entirely on the ninja's own training to recover."

Uchiha Kiyoshi continued making deductions while searching for materials related to Medical Ninjutsu.

"Finally, I found it—Introduction to Medical Ninjutsu. Huh? The author is from the Senju Clan? What is going on?"

Uchiha Kiyoshi was surprised when he saw the author's name on the book, but he quickly understood.

"It should be spoils from the Warring States era. As longtime mortal enemies, the Uchiha Clan and the Senju Clan fought countless wars. It was only natural for them to obtain some of the other's basic scrolls."

Uchiha Kiyoshi stopped overthinking it and began studying the book.

While Uchiha Kiyoshi studied Introduction to Medical Ninjutsu, he did not know that Uchiha Yu at the entrance had looked back at him. After noticing the book in his hands, Uchiha Yu seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and revealed a gratified smile.

"It seems the kid only happened to see that Samurai Body Tempering Method book yesterday and got interested in it.

"Learning Medical Ninjutsu is more useful than reading about that Samurai stuff.

"The Uchiha Clan has never produced a truly powerful medical ninja. If this kid can achieve something in that field, he will have made up for one of the clan's weaknesses."
