"At that time, I had no other choice. I could only feel my way into the corridor. Although the lights in our school had always been dim, the corridor lights were especially faint that day.
"The moment I stepped into the corridor, the stairwell behind me disappeared.
"I didn't know which floor I was on then. Outside was pitch-black. There were no stars, no moon, and no lights from the neighboring teaching building.
"I attended our school's new campus, built on a barren hillside. Other than the school, there was only a recently constructed road nearby. The nearest place to eat was two kilometers away.
