"Have you encountered anything like this before?" He Ao asked.
"No." Reed shook his head. "Ordinary anomalies don't change their own form, while an Anomaly Space directly opens up a Different Dimension Space. This is the first time I've seen something erase an entire building like this.
"But since it's an anomaly, anything is possible. If there weren't anything strange about an anomaly, that would be strange. It just means the possibility of this being a Level 1 Anomaly has increased."
"How can we determine whether it's a Level 1 Anomaly?" He Ao asked in confusion.
"There's no way to determine it," Reed said, shaking his head. "The only way is to go in and take a look. Anomalies can display all kinds of bizarre conditions. It's not impossible for a Level 2 anomaly to have some traits that look like those of a Level 1 Anomaly.
"Still, I'll report the information on this anomaly to the chairman and see what he says."
He paused briefly. "But according to the Association's usual practice, we'll probably still need to conduct an exploration before we can determine this anomaly's threat level. After all, we can't assign an anomaly a level based on a little speculation alone."
He sighed softly. "Only exploration is reliable. The more dangerous an anomaly is, the earlier we explore it and grasp its rules, the more people we can save."
"Isn't there any item that can determine an anomaly's level?" He Ao asked slowly.
"No." Reed shook his head. "If anomalies could be brought within the scope of regular detection, they wouldn't be anomalies."
As he spoke, he opened the aerial photograph from seven years ago. "What is that on the Orphanage wall in this picture? It looks a little like an electric fence."
"It was an electric
