"Then had you heard any strange tales or urban legends about that apartment building? Had any of your longtime neighbors heard anything? Or had there been any frequent disappearances?" He Ao asked.

"No." The man shook his head. "That building's pretty good. There aren't any legends. It's just too expensive. Oh, there had been disappearances, though."

He paused, glanced in the direction the gang members had left, and said fearfully, "But most of them had something to do with those gangsters running loan-sharking schemes."

"Alright, I understand." He Ao nodded in thanks.

He also raised his gaze toward the direction the youths had gone.

Ten minutes later.

Light snow drifted through the sky. In the narrow alley, He Ao slowly made his way forward toward the street on the other side.

"Big brother, do you think our parents were bullied like that uncle when they came to Wellens?" Silvi asked softly, her head lowered as she sat on He Ao's shoulders.

He Ao fell silent for a moment at her words. "I never heard them talk about it."

"Me neither." Silvi lowered her head.

Neither of them brought up the subject again.

He Ao emerged from the alley and looked at the street ahead.

The early morning street was somewhat deserted, while the sky showed the faintest hint of dawn.

This place was not far from New Future Tower. It seemed to be an entertainment district.

Brilliant neon signs shone through the snowy night as some drunken customers emerged from bars and KTVs.

He Ao stood at the alley entrance, quietly watching the people passing by.
