The old man's flesh still bore traces of being torn apart, but perhaps because of his higher rank and because he was dead, he had not suffered the full impact of the strongest level of authority. His body had remained relatively intact.
He Ao crouched down and searched inside the old man's clothes, pulling out a flat hourglass filled with orange-yellow sand.
However, the sand did not flow with gravity. He Ao turned the hourglass over, but the sand still did not begin to flow.
Yet when He Ao carried the hourglass on his person, the sand naturally began to flow.
"What is this?" Silvi asked curiously.
"It should be the tool that old man used to unleash his power," He Ao said slowly.
He lowered his head and looked at the old man's corpse on the ground.
He truly had not gotten anything out of the old man through questioning. The old man had undergone anti-mind-reading training as well, and he had killed himself decisively enough.
But that did not really matter, because He Ao had used a simpler method at the time: directly reading the old man's memories.
The questions had merely been a way to distract the Old Man and make certain key memories surface faster.
Although the Old Man had killed himself quickly, and his memories had become unreadable the instant his soul was drawn away by the Holy Wine, leaving He Ao with incomplete memories, He Ao had still obtained most of the information the Old Man possessed.
For example, the hourglass in his hand was called the Restraint Hourglass.
It was an Anomaly Item, and its rules were very simple.
As long as its holder did not directly participate in battle, the hourglass would accumulate the holder's power, waiting to release it when needed.
