The illustration on the card glowed an overall green. A green sun hung high in the air, surrounded by a purple sky streaked with several wisps of red cloud. Below seemed to be a city.
The city was shrouded in green radiance, its exact appearance impossible to make out, though it seemed packed with dense buildings.
At first glance, those buildings looked unremarkable, but upon closer inspection, there were subtle "oddities."
Some buildings could be entered from stairs at their base and exited onto their rooftops; some could be walked through from the left to emerge on the right. Some looked both new and old, as though time from the past and future had overlapped.
And beneath those buildings, faint green lines rose and fell.
He Ao looked closely and vaguely realized that the entire scene on the card seemed inverted. Where the green sun hung looked more like the ground, while the place occupied by the twisted buildings looked more like the sky.
He Ao lowered his gaze toward the gaps between the buildings.
There, a distorted figure seemed to be slowly walking into the dense cluster of buildings.
Its body was bent forward, its feet had no visible soles and seemed to blend into the "ground" below. Yet its head was slightly turned, as if it had sensed the gaze cast from "outside" and was looking back toward the "outside."
