Gate of the Underworld
Dawn City · South Gate
A sudden, violent radiance shuddered through the towering city walls, making the heavy gates hum.
Deep in the dim night, one massive machine after another, floating in the air, tried to slowly approach the city gate under the cover of fighter jets and swarms of drones.
Vislo raised his head, looking at the scene outside the city shown on the monitor and the dense, flashing points of light on the radar. In a hoarse voice, he said, "Use the low-frequency missiles. Start with the automatic anti-air cannons."
He swept a glance over the dense points of light on the radar screen. "The ones coming out front are all low-value drones. Those aerospace behemoths look like they're moving, but they actually haven't moved much. They're trying to exhaust our anti-air missiles first. Don't fall into the enemy's trap."
"Yes, sir!" The young officer beside him nodded, then immediately turned and headed toward the communications area.
"General," a middle-aged officer on the other side came over at that moment as well.
Vislo turned his head and looked at the middle-aged officer. "How are things at Radiance Palace?"
"Mr. Christos still hasn't responded," the middle-aged officer said quickly. "The livestream was cut off just now too. Things over there seem very bad. Followers of an evil god have infiltrated the ceremony."
At this point, he sighed. "I said this ceremony shouldn't have been held."
"No point being wise after the event now." Vislo took out a pack of cigarettes, glanced at the screen, handed one to the middle-aged officer, and put one between his own lips.
The middle-aged officer held out a windproof lighter and lit the cigarette in his mouth.
Vislo took a deep drag and said hoarsely, "The military is our business.
