Anke raised his head somewhat blankly and looked around.
The buildings and scenery around him were fading at a visible rate.
It was as if the surface of the entire world were being erased, revealing a deeper, more real world beneath.
It was a somewhat hazy, translucent world shrouded in Purple Radiance.
Faintly, a clamor rose beside Anke's ears.
Anke instinctively tried to pull his hand away, but He Ao stopped him. "Don't move."
Very quickly, the clamor gradually dimmed and blurred again, as though blocked by an invisible barrier.
Everything around them became hazy once more, then finally settled completely into this form.
"You can let go now," He Ao said slowly.
Anke instinctively pulled back his hand, turned around, and looked at the blurry world around him. "Where are we?"
Through the hazy lights and shadows around him, he could vaguely see dancers leaping onstage and the noisy crowd below it.
Standing here and looking at the outside world was like watching something on an old, broken, blurry television.
A figure walked past Anke. It was only a blurred silhouette of light, but Anke still vaguely recognized her. She was the girl who had just given him the scarf.
At that moment, the girl was chatting and laughing with another guest, then took out an identical scarf and gave it to him. She turned and looked in Anke's direction.
But she seemingly did not see Anke and walked straight toward him.
Anke shifted aside, trying to avoid her, but she still collided with him.
Yet strangely, their bodies did not make any real contact. The girl passed straight through Anke's body, as though he were nothing more than a phantom.
"Old man, where have we gotten to?" Anke asked, trembling slightly.
"A space caught between reality and illusion,"
