Hearing someone knock at the door, Hagrid set aside what he was doing in puzzlement and got to his feet. He walked over, pushed aside Fang, who was excitedly scratching at the door, and opened the wooden door. Seeing the familiar figure outside, he greeted him with a smile. "Albert! Come in. You haven't visited me in ages."
Fang wagged his tail enthusiastically and tried to pounce on Albert, stretching out his tongue to lick Albert's face, only to be subdued by a pat on the head.
"Hagrid, you need to leave," Albert said without looking up. His words instantly froze the warm smile on Hagrid's face.
"What's wrong?" Hagrid slowed as he prepared tea for Albert. Tilting his head toward Albert, who was stroking Fang's head, he asked tentatively, "Has something happened?"
Hagrid knew very well that Albert would never say something like that without reason. Something bad must have happened for him to come and warn him.
"Umbridge's patience is probably at its limit. You should know that after she drove out Headmaster Dumbledore, your and Firenze's situations became quite precarious."
"So that's it, then?" Hagrid poured Albert a cup of hot tea and muttered, "That wicked old witch. Ever since I came back, she's been looking for a chance to get rid of me."
"Firenze's situation is better than yours. At least Umbridge won't touch him for the time being, but if you don't leave now..."
"What happens if I don't?" Hagrid asked curiously.
"Then you'll probably spend the next few months in Azkaban." Albert handed Fang some dog treats, then looked up at the slightly uneasy Hagrid and reminded him, "Umbridge and Fudge have always been very interested in where Dumbledore is hiding—more interested, even, than catching those escaped Death Eaters."
