The four of them did not take long to reach Professor Slughorn's office, where a lively, boisterous atmosphere washed over them.
This office was larger than those of the other professors. Emerald green, dark red, and gold draperies hung from the ceiling and walls, creating the illusion that they had stepped inside a tent.
The moment Harry entered, Professor Slughorn caught hold of him and dragged him off to meet the other guests. Though Harry found the whole thing irritating, he did not show much change in expression.
Watching Harry's retreating back, Luna turned to Hermione. "Harry doesn't seem to like this?"
"I think Harry has his reasons for doing it. He really has changed a lot lately." Hermione watched Harry's back as well and murmured, "Of course, I've changed a lot too. We're all preparing ourselves for whatever changes the future may bring, and we've made up our minds to face the difficulties ahead."
As she spoke, Hermione turned to look at Ron, who was still glancing around.
"What is it?"
Ron, who had been curiously observing the Yule Ball, felt a little uncomfortable under Hermione's gaze and turned to ask her.
"Nothing."
Hermione looked away and changed the subject. "Let's find somewhere to sit and get something to eat first. Harry will probably be tied up for a while."
After helping themselves to some food from the table, the three of them squeezed into some empty seats in the corner of the office.
"What were you going to say just now?" Ron asked as he ate.
Hermione glanced at Luna beside her and lowered her voice. "It seems you still haven't prepared yourself."
"Prepared myself?"
Ron looked stunned, and the food in his mouth nearly fell out. He clearly did not understand what she meant.
"To take part
