"That broken thing can't be fixed at all."

At that moment, Draco Malfoy stood before Snape in the Slytherin Head's office, his face dark with frustration. Ever since accepting Snape's suggestion, he had been trying to repair the damaged Vanishing Cabinet according to the method Borgin and Burkes had provided. Yet after all this time, he had made no progress whatsoever.

That damned Vanishing Cabinet still looked exactly the same as before. He was starting to suspect it simply could not be repaired by him.

"If the Vanishing Cabinet were so easy to fix, the credit would not have fallen to you. If you want to earn the Dark Lord's recognition, you must make sacrifices. Only then will the Dark Lord agree to break Lucius out of prison." Snape's tone was exceptionally calm. He paid no heed to Malfoy's complaints.

"What if I can't fix it? I mean, what if I can't repair that damned Vanishing Cabinet before the end of this term?" Malfoy felt inexplicably irritated. "It's already hard enough to get into the Room of Requirement to work on it. Maybe you should move that damned cabinet into your office instead of leaving it in the Room of Requirement. People use that place all the time. Now I have to drag myself out of bed in the middle of the night to repair that damned thing."

It was not that Draco wanted to complain to Snape about these problems. He simply felt that repairing the Vanishing Cabinet was a complete trap.

If Snape truly wanted to help him, then he ought to help think of a way to repair the broken cabinet. Instead, Snape had dumped the difficult task on him, making Malfoy suspect that Snape did not know how to fix the thing at all.
