At that moment, Draco Malfoy stood before Snape in the Slytherin Head of House's office, his face dark. Since taking Snape's advice, he had begun trying to repair the damaged Vanishing Cabinet according to the method Borgin and Burkes had provided, but a long time had passed and he had made no progress whatsoever.
That cursed Vanishing Cabinet still looked exactly as it had before. He suspected it was simply beyond his ability to repair.
"If the Vanishing Cabinet were so easy to fix, the credit would not have fallen to you. If you want to earn the Dark Lord's recognition, you must pay a price. Only then will the Dark Lord agree to break Lucius out of prison," Snape said with exceptional calm, paying no heed to Malfoy's complaints.
"What if I can't fix it? I mean, what if I can't repair that damned Vanishing Cabinet before the end of this term?" Malfoy felt inexplicably irritated. "It's already difficult enough just getting into the Room of Requirement to repair it. Maybe you should move that damned cabinet into your office instead of leaving it in the Room of Requirement. People are always using that place. I have to crawl out of bed in the middle of the night to go repair that damned cabinet."
It was not that Draco wanted to complain about these problems to Snape. He simply felt that repairing the Vanishing Cabinet was a complete trap.
If Snape truly wanted to help him, he ought to help think of a way to repair that broken cabinet. Yet Snape had dumped this problem on him, making Malfoy suspect that Snape did not know how to fix the thing at all.
