There had already been plenty of signs proving that Potter had set his sights on Slughorn long ago.

Malfoy had no idea what Potter wanted to do, but learning about it made him inexplicably restless.

For some reason, he vaguely sensed that Potter's plan would likely clash with his mother's plan—and there was nothing he could do to stop it.

The feeling was awful.

"What are you thinking about?" Pansy plopped down on the sofa beside Malfoy.

"How did the Apparition test go?" Malfoy changed the subject.

"You actually care about that?" Pansy said with feigned surprise. She remembered that ever since they had returned to school last September, Draco had shown indifference toward many things.

"I was just asking." Malfoy's gaze passed over the Daily Prophet toward the two people on the sofa opposite. "Goyle and Crabbe didn't pass. They said the Apparition test was difficult."

"I thought it was pretty easy. Maybe they should put more effort into practicing." Pansy lounged lazily against him, resting her head intimately on Malfoy's thigh.

"It wasn't just us who failed. Ron Weasley didn't pass either," Crabbe protested desperately.

"Yeah, nearly half the students failed," Goyle hurriedly added, as though eager to prove he was not an idiot.

"Oh, the Weasleys really do produce nothing but trash. I heard those three started learning Apparition earlier than everyone else, and they still failed in the end." Draco toyed with Pansy's hair between his fingers.

"Ow, that hurts."

Pansy rubbed her scalp and looked at Draco resentfully.

"Sorry, I didn't notice."

Draco quickly let go, slipping several strands of hair into his pocket while apologizing to Pansy.

"What's wrong with you?" Pansy looked up at Draco's face and could not help complaining. "It feels like you've been distracted all term."
