"You're back?"
After rushing forward to give Albert a big hug, Isabelle began carefully checking him over. Only after confirming he was unharmed did she breathe a sigh of relief.
"Don't worry, darling. How's Alice?"
Albert kissed Isabelle's somewhat flustered cheek, trying to distract her.
"She fell asleep again after eating."
Isabelle held Albert tightly. She knew all too well what had happened tonight.
"How's Scrimgeour?"
Seeing Albert, Katrina also relaxed and casually poured him a cup of black tea.
"Probably... dead. Although Scrimgeour took Liquid Luck, I don't think that stuff could save him. Liquid Luck isn't actually a luck potion; it can't truly bring someone good fortune."
Albert had actually anticipated Scrimgeour's outcome long ago, especially after the man had rejected his initial proposal and chosen to gamble instead.
Though Scrimgeour had indeed had a slim chance of survival, once he used a fake to draw the Dark Lord's attention, Voldemort probably could no longer tolerate letting him live.
The only question was whether Scrimgeour had managed to wipe out all the subdued Dark Wizards and retake the Ministry of Magic, or...
No, that possibility was extremely unlikely.
Albert had never believed that bunch of sluggish people could all withdraw before Voldemort arrived with the Death Eaters. If they killed all the Dark Wizards only to be blocked by Voldemort afterward, things would likely end very badly.
Still, that was only the worst possible outcome. Albert did not think events would develop in the worst direction.
After all, Scrimgeour had taken Liquid Luck. He would surely find a way to handle things, especially with Albert gone. He could not be foolish enough to fight Voldemort and the Death Eaters head-on.
"So the British wizarding world is going to descend completely into chaos?" Katrina could barely imagine how terrible
