The British wizarding world had been far from peaceful lately.
Everywhere, people were discussing the Ministry of Magic offering bounties for Muggle-borns. A group of people who saw profit in it and wanted to make gold by hunting Muggle-born wizards had banded together, swelling the ranks of the Seeker Squad.
Tempted by Galleons, Azkaban received another batch of inmates in just a few days. Even some unfortunate Muggle-borns living in the gray areas failed to escape disaster.
Just as Albert had expected, the Self-Defense Guide had finally proved its worth. A small number of Muggle Wizards who had bought it hid their tracks, disguised themselves as ordinary Muggles, and successfully blended into Muggle communities, escaping the hunters' pursuit.
Of course, more Muggle Wizards who had integrated into the magical world chose not to hide in the Muggle world. Instead, they ran off into the wilderness to play at survival. Very few wizards actually chose to leave England to avoid the disaster.
Albert found this utterly baffling. He simply could not understand their way of thinking.
If they were going to run off to some uninhabited place and play at wilderness survival anyway, why not do it in another country?
It would not only be safer, but they would not need to worry about running into the Seeker Squad.
"Their way of thinking is different from yours. Staying somewhere familiar makes them feel safer," Isabelle said. Even she had to admit that her husband was right: going abroad was safer.
"Perhaps they simply have no way to leave. After all, not everyone is as adventurous as you, as well-prepared as you, or as skilled at magic as you. For ordinary wizards, their work and family are practically their whole lives."
