Knock, knock, knock!
A rapid knock suddenly sounded outside the door.
"What is it?"
In the pitch-black bedroom, Isabelle, still wrapped in Albert's arms amid the lingering warmth of their passion, lowered her voice as she asked. Being interrupted during an intimate moment was undoubtedly unpleasant.
"Something important must have happened."
Albert lightly kissed his wife's forehead, pushed aside the sheets, and sat up. He beckoned into the darkness, and the cloak on the hanger by the wall flew over automatically, draping itself casually over him. Albert picked up the wand beside the bedside table and walked to the door, reaching for the handle.
There was no one outside.
His gaze lowered to the metal bookmark on the floor.
"What is it?"
Isabelle's slightly uneasy voice came from behind him. Since they had moved onto this ship, they had never encountered an emergency like this.
"One of the Association members has suddenly disappeared."
Albert picked up the communication bookmark and glanced at its contents. His tone was exceptionally calm, as though someone going missing were nothing more than a trivial matter.
"Missing? Is he a traitor?"
Isabelle was greatly surprised. She knew all too well how much Albert had invested in the Defense Association.
"No. His father probably dragged him down."
Albert sighed softly and handed the communication bookmark to Isabelle's outstretched hand from beneath the covers. Then, with another wave of his wand, he summoned an atlas, intending to use Tracking Magic to directly pinpoint Kevin Thompson's approximate location.
