After hearing Grindelwald's words, Voldemort unexpectedly showed no anger. Instead, he raised his wand and prepared to cast Avada Kedavra at Grindelwald.

As long as he killed the man before him, the Deathstick would belong to him, and murder happened to be one of Voldemort's specialties.

As for losing to Grindelwald, Voldemort had never considered that possibility. Grindelwald was simply far too old.

The years had left deep marks on the old man and taken many precious things from him. Grindelwald was no longer as nimble as he had been in his youth, nor could he deftly evade Voldemort's utterly lethal killing magic.

Fortunately, at the critical moment, Liquid Luck still worked. The wooden door Grindelwald had blasted open swung at Voldemort like a giant slap, interrupting that fatal Killing Curse for him.
