"Harry, don't tell me you want to—"
Hermione guessed how Harry planned to deal with the dragon in front of them.
"There's no other way. We have no means of subduing a fire dragon. If we want to get through here and safely reach the Lestrange family vault, we can only kill it."
Ron, who had taken Liquid Luck with them, finally caught up with their train of thought.
"Letting it go is better than leaving it trapped here forever. If it were me, I'd rather die than be stuck in this hellhole."
"Come to think of it, it ought to thank us for freeing it."
Harry and the others' conversation shocked Griphook. It was as though the creature blocking their way was not a savage dragon, but a bug that could be crushed at any time.
Before Griphook could fully process it, Harry had already raised his wand, stepped sharply around the corner, and fired an utterly ordinary-looking Devil's Fire at the dragon opposite them.
Over the past few months, Harry had used Devil's Fire countless times and knew full well how terrifying it was. When it collided with the dragon's flaming breath, it began to corrupt and devour the dragonfire, even sweeping the flames back toward the dragon and completely engulfing it.
A piercing scream echoed through the chamber, turning Griphook's face deathly pale as he watched. He had already guessed how Harry and the others intended to open the Lestrange vault.
"That's Devil's Fire!" Griphook's voice trembled.
It could not be helped. The incident in which the Malfoy family had been swallowed by Devil's Fire was far too infamous. Almost no one failed to recognize that evil Dark magic.
