"Severus, any news from the Dark Lord?"
Yaxley was under tremendous pressure. Especially after receiving the news Snape had brought not long ago, he had still refused to lead people back to reinforce Voldemort and remained at his post.
Deep down, a voice had been telling him that that Mudblood could never do anything to the Dark Lord. Keeping a close watch on the joint Auror force assembled by the European countries was far more important. They could not give them any opportunity.
"No, but I've already sent people to gather intelligence."
Snape glanced at the Dark Mark on his arm and muttered, "Before coming here, I went to see the Dementors. With that pack of Dementors causing trouble, the Dark Lord should be fine. At worst, he can escape."
"Everything tonight reeks of something sinister." Alecto Carrow pushed open the door and entered the temporary war room.
"How did it go?" Yaxley asked.
"We couldn't find the Dark Lord. That manor has completely vanished, leaving only a huge crater behind." Alecto simply could not understand what kind of battle could have caused such a commotion.
"What did the Dementors say?" Snape suddenly asked.
"I asked them. The Dark Lord should have won in the end, but he Apparated away shortly afterward."
None of the Death Eaters could understand what the Dark Lord was thinking. He had not come to join them in crushing the foreign Auror coalition in one fell swoop.
"What do you think the Order of the Phoenix and the Defense Association lot are doing occupying Hogwarts? Are they really waiting for the Auror coalition to join them there?" Alecto murmured. "No matter how you look at it, it seems like a decoy. Those people are probably plotting something else."
