"Why didn't you just take them out yourself? Wouldn't that have been faster?"
Sirius Black couldn't understand Albert's approach. He believed that if the man had been willing, he could easily have dealt with that group of Dark Wizards just now, rather than hiding and coordinating with them.
"Some things can't be taken too far." Albert's voice came from the empty space beside them. "Besides, I'm only one person."
"At a time like this, stop talking in riddles," several of the others complained. "And can't you lift the Disillusionment Charm? It's really weird talking like this."
Using the Disillusionment Charm to hide and ambush others was indeed very useful, but in a large-scale melee, it would only cause them trouble instead.
"If I directly used Dark magic to slaughter Dark Wizards on a large scale, Voldemort definitely wouldn't let it go. Then he'd treat you the same way. So, keeping each other in check is a kind of unspoken understanding."
"That guy did exactly that in the last Wizarding War."
"That was because Dumbledore was a man with principles, but that couldn't make Voldemort feel threatened." Albert spoke in a self-mocking tone. "Being a bad guy has its advantages too."
Everyone was rather stunned. They hadn't expected Albert to describe himself that way.
Well, although some of Albert's methods really did cross the line, everyone still saw him as a good person, just like Dumbledore.
"Of course, you can't expect everyone to honestly abide by that understanding. Like what I'm doing now. It's just that Voldemort wouldn't do it as discreetly as I do."
Albert knew what they were thinking, but this Wizarding War had never belonged to any one person, nor should he be the one to shoulder everything himself.
