Uchiha Jiri—Not an Anime-Original Character
The next day, Uchiha Qi woke up from bed with a yawn, looking exhausted and as though he had not slept at all.
Anyone who did not know better might have thought Uchiha Qi had indulged in some indescribable group activity the previous night and gotten far too wild.
In reality, Uchiha Qi had merely spent the previous night modifying the game, creating a "trial version." On top of that, he had carried out further development on it.
That development had been inspired by Uchiha Fugaku's highly entertaining "performance" while playing the game yesterday afternoon. Qi had felt that it would be far too regrettable for such an entertaining game experience to go unseen by others.
Still, it had only been an idea at the time. He had not known whether it could be done, so he had not seriously researched it until last night.
As it turned out, Uchiha Qi had indeed produced some results. They were still far from what he had envisioned, but they were usable, at least.
Today, he was going to let the Uchiha higher-ups experience the trial version of the game. Perhaps he could test its effects on the spot.
With that in mind, Uchiha Qi washed up, finished breakfast, and prepared to leave. Just before stepping outside, however, he sensed someone beyond the door. His mind stirred, and he quietly took out a kunai before cautiously opening it.
The person outside was not some danger, but a beautiful woman dressed in the Uchiha Clan's signature black robe.
She looked to be around twenty, with the appearance and bearing of a cool, aloof mature beauty. She possessed the striking looks characteristic of the Uchiha Clan's handsome men and beautiful women.
However, unlike the black hair most commonly seen among the Uchiha Clan, her long hair was an uncommon deep purple. The aura she gave off was also powerful. Though not comparable to Minato Namikaze, she was still at the level of a jonin.
Moreover, Uchiha Qi knew her, because she was his "senior" who had entered the Ninja Academy a year before him.
"Senior Jiri, why have you come here?"
Uchiha Qi revealed a surprised expression.
Uchiha Jiri was a genius of the younger generation of the Uchiha Clan. At only twenty, she already possessed the highest level of the Three-Tomoe Sharingan. The Uchiha Clan also had a classic tradition of favoring men over women, so an Uchiha like her—able to stand on her own, awaken the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, and become a jonin—was exceedingly rare.
In fact, although Uchiha Jiri had been one year ahead of Uchiha Qi, she had been the quintessential Uchiha genius at school, always surrounded by all kinds of glory and praise. Even after graduating from the Ninja Academy, she remained one of the most outstanding members of her class.
Now, Uchiha Jiri was one of the core members of the Konoha Military Police Force, one of its strongest combatants. Her status was completely different from Uchiha Qi's, and their relationship had been limited to exchanging greetings whenever they met.
They simply lived in entirely different circles.
Yet today, Uchiha Jiri stood before Uchiha Qi with a complicated expression. Then, she put away that expression, dropped to one knee, and said respectfully, "Lord Qi, the Clan Head sent me to receive you."
Uchiha Qi was briefly stunned. Then he understood that Uchiha Fugaku must have told the Uchiha higher-ups about the Genjutsu Game.
He had long expected the Uchiha Clan to view him differently because of the Genjutsu Game, but he had only thought his treatment would improve significantly. Judging by the current situation, though, the treatment seemed a little too exaggerated.
This was Uchiha Jiri, one of the strongest people of the younger generation. Even across the entire Uchiha Clan, her strength ranked among the top ten. Yet the clan's big shots had sent her to receive him, and she was even addressing him as "Lord."
One had to know that in this world, where class distinctions were extremely pronounced, being addressed with "Lord" meant there was a complete superior-subordinate relationship—a relationship between one who was served and one who served.
Uchiha Jiri addressing Uchiha Qi as Lord meant that most of the clan would have to address him that way when they saw him in the future.
Honestly, it felt rather strange.
Still, it did not feel bad either. Perhaps he would have felt uncomfortable with this when he had first transmigrated, but eighteen years had passed. Eighteen years without any cheat, eighteen years as nothing more than an ordinary person. He had experienced enough things by now, and his mindset had long since changed.
Not to mention, Uchiha Qi himself had called plenty of people "Lord."
Since others could accept it with a clear conscience, what was there for him to find unacceptable when it was his turn?
Uchiha Qi nodded. "All right, then let's go!"
With that, he headed toward the Uchiha Clan Compound together with Uchiha Jiri.
Along the way, Uchiha Jiri stayed half a step behind him, walking on his right side with the complete bearing of a subordinate. Her expression was calm, without any unusual reaction.
Clearly, she had already adjusted her mindset.
Uchiha Qi's feelings were rather complicated, though. After all, Uchiha Jiri had once been someone he had to look up to, yet in the blink of an eye, she had become almost like his subordinate.
It was...
Quite surprising.
But Uchiha Qi also understood that this would become the norm. It would not just be Uchiha Jiri; the other Uchiha would also completely change their attitude toward him—as long as the effects of the Genjutsu Game could be confirmed.
Come to think of it, Uchiha Jiri was rather special to Uchiha Qi. It was not because they had attended the same school for several years, but because she had been the classic child everyone compared him to when he was young—the child from someone else's family.
For Uchiha Qi, who possessed the qualities of a king of stress resistance, that had all been child's play.
The key was that Uchiha Jiri had appeared in the original work. However, she was an anime-original character whose existence conflicted with the manga's plot.
Izanami was one of the Uchiha Clan's forbidden techniques. In the original manga, it had been created by an Uchiha ancestor during the Warring States Period, when internal strife had broken out within the Uchiha Clan.
The original manga never showed who Izanami's creator was. It only stated that such an event had occurred and that such a person had existed.
Then the supposedly brilliant anime adaptation team had invented a character named Uchiha Jiri and claimed that she had created Izanami.
That alone would have been fine, but the crucial issue was that this original plot had been set after Konoha's founding. A group of Uchiha wearing Konoha forehead protectors fought each other because of internal strife, and in the end, Uchiha Jiri used Izanami to bring all the calamity to an end. The key point was that Uchiha Jiri even possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan.
Damn it, when had the Uchiha Clan ever suffered internal strife after Konoha was founded? And after the village was established, no one had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan. Even Kagami Uchiha, the legendary disciple of the Second Hokage, had only possessed the Three-Tomoe Sharingan.
Most importantly, if the Uchiha Clan had truly fallen into internal strife, Konoha's higher-ups would have laughed in their sleep. They would definitely have added fuel to the fire and let the Uchiha Clan be crippled by its internal conflict. How could it possibly still be flourishing as it was now?
So that original plot was truly outrageous.
When Uchiha Qi first saw Uchiha Jiri in this real ninja world, he had been startled, thinking that the ridiculous anime-original storyline was about to unfold.
But in truth, Uchiha Jiri was merely an ordinary Uchiha. Her talent was excellent, but only excellent. Compared to the future Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi, she fell far short, let alone the cheat-enabled Otsutsuki Sasuke.
Of course, even so, Uchiha Jiri was still an outstanding Uchiha. If she could enter the Konoha Anbu, she would be one of its top experts.
