The Tuileries Palace's right wing had a room specifically for housing the throne, since this had once been the king's residence.

Now that room was locked up like a taboo. Besides it, there were the first and second drawing rooms, as superfluous as Dudley's spare bedroom.

She chose one of them, intending to claim it for herself in the future—provided she truly had the ability to do so.

There would be no desk in a drawing room. The tea table was a little too low, but it would do. Paper and pens were readily available as well.

Sophie had already prepared black tea for her. The other girl, Matilda, had gone to ask the palace steward where her bedroom should be arranged.
