If asked what France's most recognizable landmarks were, most people would choose the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, or the Louvre Museum. Very few would choose Bastille Square. But Lyall Mayer did not follow convention. He had Nadia take Felix Yang to the entrance of the Bastille Opera House, and when he left, he even left a message with a waiter at a nearby café: if Severus remembered to look for the lost child, he should go there.
Felix, who had originally carried several hundred euros and planned to have a good time in Paris, could only helplessly accept the arrangement. Severus was pressed for time and could not afford to delay for long. Yet after waiting at the opera house entrance for barely ten minutes, Felix ran off to explore the nearby sights.
Although the Bastille had long since been demolished, a few foundation stones remained. They had been discovered during the construction of the Paris Metro. Rather than being taken away to build bridges or pave roads, the stones had been preserved in their original location. A Korean barbecue restaurant had simply been built over them. Without a guide's introduction, independent tourists would never have been able to find the place.
Fortunately, Felix returned to the opera house entrance after circling the area once. Otherwise, Severus might have had to use the public broadcast system to look for him like the parents of lost children.
Though there had been a minor hiccup, Severus found Felix safely enough. The two of them then returned to Gong Saiyi's home, where Klimian was already waiting in the living room. A map of Paris was spread across Gong Saiyi's desk.
