From the day any dynasty was founded, it hoped its reign would endure. Yet even the mighty Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt lasted only a little over two hundred years from its founding until Ramses established the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt.

Ramses I was already over fifty when he ascended the throne. He ruled for only sixteen months, yet he continued his predecessor's construction projects, building more temples at Karnak and beginning a new tomb in the river valley above the Valley of the Kings.

In essence, these buildings were no different from America's privatized prison industry. Both had to be paid for out of public funds. One was for burying pharaohs and royal family members, while the other locked up the disobedient so that only obedient sheep remained outside.

Jehovah sent down disasters whenever people worshipped other idols. That was no different from a slave owner. The Israelites believed in Jehovah because he had helped them leave Egypt and escape enslavement by Egypt. If that tribal god of a nomadic people was so tyrannical, then people could abandon him and worship other gods. Let destruction come, then. Perhaps the Creator thought giving life was something great, but creations had never begged the Creator to make them. And like Job, they were toyed with as though the devil and God were rolling dice. I do not wish to be given flesh and born for such a purpose.

By comparison, though Greece's gods were chaotic, they were freer. They brought harvests, wine, and wisdom. If Jehovah still relied on laws and threats to force people into submission, then people would inevitably abandon him.

Such a "rebellious son" was indeed hateful, but why had the "father" given birth to him in the first place? A forgiving and merciful Father God was easier for
