Before leaving Paris, she heard that Dr. Bichat had died. He was the young doctor who had once saved General d'Estaing in Lyon. In her memory, he did not seem like someone who would die young. He looked healthy, had no bad habits, and probably would never have taken part in a duel.
Yet he had still died. He was a surgeon, and his mentor, Desault, had been German and a pride of the surgical world. But Desault was dead too. They had both died of the same cause—tetanus.
Doctors themselves faced risks when saving others. Even a tiny cut could be fatal. These Garudas had sharp, venomous claws. If they wounded someone, even the smallest scratch could prove deadly.
This was no time for mercy. After the Cygnus Patronus drove back those strange birds, she had Fiegel take the Muggle soldiers to capture the woman.
"She is the evil one. I am your friend," the woman told Fiegel. "I am helping you."
"Capture her! As long as she is not commanding them, those birds will not attack!" Georgiana shouted.
Fiegel still chose to listen to Georgiana. These Muggles might have had limited power against magical creatures, but the guns in their hands could still be used against wizards.
"Why did you do that? You are a witch too," Georgiana asked the woman.
"Do not lump me in with the likes of you," the woman said with disgust. "My power comes from Heaven, which is why I can command these angels."
"You call them angels?" Georgiana asked in disbelief.
"And you are a sorceress. I know what you and he were doing in that carriage," the woman said with a sneer. "Have you forgotten that you were still in the middle of the street?"
"You are an Animagus?" Georgiana asked.
