Before going to Egypt, Monge, like many people of his era, believed sacred geometry consisted of pentagrams and circles.

The pentagram represented Venus, and life as well. On L'Enfant's earliest blueprints, several pentagrams—upright and inverted alike—could clearly be seen arranged along the central axis of George Washington's core district. They were later changed to the Kabbalah Tree of Life. This diagram originated from Egypt's sacred geometry—the Flower of Life. The Tree of Life was a kind of "plant" born from the seeds of the Flower of Life, though this knowledge had yet to be mastered by anyone outside Freemasonry.

These were entirely different concepts. Besides that, L'Enfant and Thomas Jefferson had another conflict. He had designed a canal running near the Presidential Mansion, but Thomas Jefferson, who wanted to invest the limited funds in government buildings, had no interest in the canal.

After they parted ways, L'Enfant did not return to France, because news had arrived that the king had gone to the guillotine. Later, even the Duke of New Orleans fled to America.

Before Hamilton's plan was implemented, Wall Street had been terribly dull. Brokers were so bored that they passed the time playing cards, and some even bet on which French political figure would be sent to the guillotine next. Hamilton was the one who livened up this quiet market. Yet as the economy developed, the old laws became restrictive and cumbersome, especially the prohibition against establishing companies. Many feared that the authority to approve companies would forever remain in the hands of each state's legislature.

Vice President Burr's method gave those who wanted to establish companies a breakthrough. In just four years, America had 335 companies, most of them engaged in public works such as building canals and roads. Like water companies, they could also open banks.
