"What? Peter's Animagus is a rat?" Pomona asked incredulously. "What use is a rat?"

"He can keep watch," Sirius said dryly, rubbing his noticeably lengthened nose.

She looked at James again.

"How about we give each other nicknames?" James said loudly. "For example, my Animagus is a stag..."

"Could you say that any louder? Better let the whole world know you're illegal Animagi."

"At least we succeeded. What about you?" James looked at Pomona. "When will your Animagus succeed?"

"With James and me around, you won't need to come anymore," Sirius said bluntly.

She did not think that was "kindness." Perhaps Sirius thought that even if Peter's Animagus was a rat, he was still more useful than a girl.

It infuriated her.

"Where are you going?" Sirius asked.

"None of your business!" she said without looking back, leaving the lakeside.
