When Pomona arrived at the headmaster's office, a white-haired old man had just come out. Though his back was to her, she recognized him at once.

"Mr. Scamander!"

The old man turned around, his eyes widening in surprise, as if wondering how this stranger knew him.

"Have you forgotten me? I almost became Rolf's Head of House." Pomona immediately introduced herself.

"Oh... oh! I remember now." Scamander said, as if suddenly enlightened. "You're the girl who spent the summer at my house."

She pursed her lips, finding his "excellent memory" difficult to comment on.

"After graduation, I chose to remain at Hogwarts. I became the Herbology professor and Head of Hufflepuff."

"How is your tortoise?" Scamander asked again.

Pomona was speechless once more.

Tortoises lived a long time and were easy to care for, but she had still let it roam freely in the tropical rainforest of the girls' common room. After that, she had been unable to find it.
