The House-elves let out piercing screams, then swarmed out of the classroom.
Pomona caught sight of the scene inside from the doorway and felt her scalp prickle. Once the last House-elf had come out, she slammed the door shut with a bang.
Everyone stared at that thin door with lingering fear and instinctively backed away two steps. They looked at one another, and in the end all the House-elves turned to Pomona, as if asking what they should do next.
"Ew~" She rubbed her arms desperately. Goosebumps had risen all over them.
"What are you doing?" Remus Lupin asked from the doorway of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
"Spring cleaning, Professor," said the House-elf Mung Bean.
"Then why did you all run out? Is there a Troll in that room?" Remus asked with a smile.
"There are Chizpurfles in there," Mung Bean answered.
"Chizpurfles? You cannot handle Chizpurfles either?" Remus asked.
"Do you know what this place used to be?" Pomona asked. "It was where lost wands were kept."
"So?"
"Those little pests have gnawed through the wands and gotten into the cores. I think we should call someone from the Pest Disposal Department at the Ministry of Magic," Pomona said.
