Following the path from the Whomping Willow toward the Quidditch Pitch, after entering the Forbidden Forest and nearing the three-way fork that led to the Centaurs' gathering place, stood Professor Grubbly-Plank's "birdcage."

As Hogwarts's ornithologist and part-time veterinarian, Grubbly-Plank also had two offices. The calls of Augureys could cause mental harm, so they were unsuitable for a place too close to the castle.

Since this was already near the depths of the Forbidden Forest, Unicorns could be seen drinking by the stream, while Centaur women brought their children here to wash fruit and food.

"Good morning, Firenze!" Pomona called to a Centaur.

"Morning," Firenze said with a smile. "Did you observe the stars last night?"

In truth, Pomona had been busy sleeping. How could she have had time to look at the stars?

"Of course, I did. It was the Perseid meteor shower, wasn't it?" she said casually.

"I heard a comet collided with Jupiter. Unfortunately, Centaurs do not have human telescopes." Firenze looked up at the sky. "And the light of the Full Moon has dimmed the stars as well."

"Yes, the Full Moon," Pomona muttered. "Damn Full Moon."

She tugged at her wizarding robes and stumbled onward until she reached the entrance to Grubbly-Plank's office, then knocked on the door.

"Come in," Grubbly-Plank said from inside.

Pomona pushed open the door and walked in. Honestly, she had always believed a Head of House's office ought to be as spacious and bright as Grubbly-Plank's, rather than as "small and cozy" as the one beside the students' common room.

Grubbly-Plank's desk stood in the middle of the "birdcage." Transparent glass allowed her to observe the birds' living conditions, and now and then, vividly colored tropical birds with long tails could be seen flying from one branch to another.
