Spending the summer at the Scamander family home felt completely different from spending it at Lily's.
There was no refrigerator, television, or "Coke" here, but there were things the Muggle world did not have either.
She ate a Licorice Wand from Honeydukes while doing her summer homework. Once she finished this Transfiguration essay, she planned to visit Scamander's study, where he kept many records of his travels around the world.
But Scamander did not like teaching her. Apparently, his Boggart was a desk piled high with documents. What he feared most was that sort of work that required him to sit still all the time.
Whose Boggart would be something like that? What a strange man.
"Pomona," Tina called softly. "You have a friend here."
She looked up at Scamander's wife. Tina had been looking after her during this time, and occasionally came to the study to talk with her.
"I don't have any friends. I mean, they aren't here," Pomona said. She had thought there would be other children at the Scamander family home, but she was the only one.
"Let's go downstairs," Tina said with a smile.
Pomona looked at the essay, which was almost finished, then followed Tina out. They went down to the basement level.
From there, she could see lake water as smooth as a mirror, though it was actually very deep. It was not like the shore of the Black Lake, where one could roll up one's trouser legs and stand on the rocks.
"Where is this person?" Pomona asked in confusion.
"Look over there," Tina said, pointing in one direction.
She looked where Tina pointed. There seemed to be a few ripples on the surface, but they soon vanished, and the lake became calm again.
