"Were all those things you just said written in that book?"

Pomona casually picked up a book lying open on Flitwick's desk.

"No, in another one." Flitwick reached across the desk and took the book from Pomona's hands.

She looked at its binding. It had to be at least a century or two old, and more importantly, it was written in French.

It reminded her of Madame Maxime again, of the purpose she was supposed to have had, and of Severus's warning through the Two-Way Mirror yesterday: a student would use the Triwizard Tournament as an opportunity to come to Hogwarts in search of Nicolas Flamel's inheritance.

She felt Albus should not have kept things that belonged to others, even if he and Nicolas Flamel had been close.

And he had even made Nick give up immortality. Why did she have such a strange feeling about it?

"Professor!"

As Pomona hurried toward the staff room, Neville called out to her.

"Oh, what is it?" Pomona asked.

"I wanted to ask whether our school has an aquatic plant greenhouse." Neville handed her the book in his arms. "I found this at the Scamander family's home."

Pomona took the book. It was a Herbology textbook once used at Hogwarts, describing magical plants from Africa, but it was no longer useful now.

"We don't have an aquatic plant greenhouse." Pomona returned the book to Neville.

"What? Why not?" Neville asked.

Pomona pointed at herself.

"Because I'm Hogwarts's Herbology professor," she said. Then she turned and opened her office door, only to be greeted by countless letters.

She had nearly forgotten about that, so she shut the door again.

"Come on. Let's go to the greenhouse."

"Longbottom." Snape approached with a stiff expression. "Who gave you permission to enter the school during the holidays?"
