"Head of House!"
Pomona turned toward the voice. A hard-featured man in a brown leather jacket was walking toward her with a smile.
"Langham!" Pomona said in delighted surprise. "What are you doing here?"
"I wish I were here to have fun too, but I'm on assignment today." Langham looked at Cedric in his Hufflepuff robes. "And who's this?"
"Cedric Diggory, a prefect from this year's class," Pomona said, introducing him. "This is an enforcer from the Beast Division. He was also a Hufflepuff prefect, just like you, and he graduated the year before you enrolled."
"Sporos Langham. Nice to meet you." Langham held out his hand to Cedric.
"Nice to meet you," Cedric said steadily, shaking his hand.
"It's an honor, son. Langham is the best investigator I know," Amos Diggory immediately told Cedric. "He's caught quite a few poachers."
"If you mean Golden Snidgets." Langham laughed. "That's nothing much."
"You used to be a Seeker too?" Cedric asked with a smile.
"You too?" Langham said in surprise.
"I wasn't as good as you. Back when you were on the Quidditch team, you won the House Cup several times," Cedric said modestly.
"I don't suppose there are any magical creatures or poachers here for you to catch. What assignment are you on?" Pomona asked Langham.
Langham hesitated.
"So the rumor was true." Amos turned serious. "You're about to transfer to the Auror Office."
"I'm here to protect the department head. He's over there." Langham looked in a certain direction. "Until the official notice comes through, I'm still with the Beast Division."
"I'd say there's no question about it anymore." Amos spoke boldly. "Once you join the Auror Office, you'll definitely become Chief Auror."
