Pomona arranged the secondhand furniture she had bought that afternoon in their ideal spots, then restored them to their original size with an Engorgement Charm.

It turned out that after leaving the jewelry exhibition, she and Snape had spent the entire afternoon at the flea market, and no "mothership" had appeared.

"Are you really not buying a bed?" Pomona asked after tidying up.

"There's nowhere to put one," he said from next door. "Besides, I won't be sleeping here."

The apartment's bedroom was indeed crammed full of documents, and she could hardly imagine him curling up in the little bed he had slept in as a child. No wonder he went back to Spinner's End and stayed in his parents' room.

"Then I'll come again tomorrow," Pomona said as she returned to the sitting room.

This time, they had bought a very large dining table, which Snape was using as a workbench.

"What time and where are we meeting tomorrow morning?" Pomona asked.

"How about staying tonight?" he said while looking at his documents, as though merely tossing out the suggestion.

"No need. The Floo is very convenient," Pomona said.

"Didn't you say you were my 'roommate'?" He put down the documents and looked at her coldly.

"Didn't I just set up my room?" Pomona pointed at the second bedroom where she had just been.

"You won't sleep there either, so why did you ask whether I wanted to buy a bed?"

"All right, that was an unnecessary question. Where are we meeting tomorrow?" Pomona asked.

"How did you come up with 'roommate'?" he said accusingly. "Are you afraid Gerard will misunderstand?"

She stared speechlessly at the ceiling.

Snape looked mature enough, but if her boss had not reminded her, she would not have realized that he was only twenty-seven
