Myrtle's sobbing echoed through the silent corridor.

The sound was rather creepy, but one got used to it after hearing it for long enough. After all, apart from crying and making the entire second-floor corridor damp, Myrtle could not do much else.

It was the patient before her who made Pomona's skin crawl.

"Drink this quickly," Poppy Pomfrey said, drawing the curtain to block the view from outside.

Pomona breathed a sigh of relief and turned to exchange looks with the heads of the other Houses.

Snape wore a grim expression. Clutching his robes, he strode ahead, even overtaking the headmaster as he left the Hospital Wing.

Considering that the victim currently lying in bed was a Slytherin student, Minerva and Flitwick said nothing.

"I'll stay," Jig said from the side. "Mixed spells are rather complicated. Poppy will need me."

Pomona felt she could not be as steadfast as Poppy Pomfrey, but since she had said so, Jig could only leave the Hospital Wing with the others.
