Background / History

Azure Cloud Palace is based in the East Hill Domain, where it is regarded as prominent locally but remains below the Four Great Sects of the Questioning Immortals Realm. Its founder reportedly named the sect after nearby Azure Cloud City, with which it retains a deep connection. 12 43

Half a year before Xia Wantang's arrival, the previous Saintess perished. The palace subsequently recruited a replacement throughout the East Hill Domain. Unlike ordinary disciples, Saintess candidates were not required to test their cultivation on a trial stone; they only needed to meet the age requirement, possess an Ice Spirit Root, and receive approval from the Palace Lord and elders. 1

The Xia Family exploited this exception by using the Earth Grade Nine Heavens Ice Glaze Hairpin to disguise Xia Wantang's early Human Martial Realm cultivation as late Mystic Martial Realm. Since the Palace Lord was only at the peak Spirit Channeling Realm, he could not see through the artifact; the secluded ancestor was the only known palace figure capable of doing so. 1

The exposure of the false Saintess appointment was treated as a severe affront to the sect's reputation. In the original host's projected fate, elders led by Lu Shenxing attacked Luoxia City and exterminated the Xia Family as a warning against deceiving Azure Cloud Palace. 12

Luo Xingzhou emerges from seclusion after divining a major opportunity for Azure Cloud Palace. He remains in the sect, accepts Xiao Rui as a disciple, and prepares the delegation for the Sect Grand Competition. 102 103
