Temporary Members
- Pan Sen and Pan Lin — the Sparta Brothers; level 38 substitutes whose Martial Soul Fusion Skill is Great Wilderness Starfall. They joined tournament lineups to preserve the main team’s strength. 194
- Gu Xuan — a team member listed at level 56 shortly before the Finals; Flender instructed him to keep the team’s advantages concealed in the opening round. 301 303
Team Identity
- Flender assigned numerical aliases according to strength: Huo Feng was Number One, while the two support-system Soul Masters were placed near the end. 71
- The team wore Shrek Masks during Great Soul Arena battles, concealing their faces and making their identities difficult to determine. 92 107
- Their growing fame forced members to enter the arena separately and disguise themselves in plain clothes before changing into masks and battle attire. 107
- The team’s tournament uniforms were yellow-green and covered with a large Shrek monster emblem; later, Flender covered them in increasingly numerous sponsorship advertisements. 195 209
- Their Fragrant Flower Dew sponsorship paid 1,000 Gold Soul Coins per match during the preliminaries and Promotion Tournament, with larger bonuses for later advancement. 209
Combat Doctrine
Shrek combines specialized individual strengths with coordinated team tactics. Flender describes its approach as “individual extremes and team balance”: each member develops a standout specialty while teammates cover their weaknesses. 221
- Formation discipline — against the Berserk Team, Shrek used a one-three-two-one formation, contrasting with the enemy’s three-three-one arrangement. 92
- Reserve management — Huo Feng and Ning Rongrong were deliberately benched through portions of the Preliminary Tournament to conceal the team’s full strength for later rounds. 220
- Decisive focus fire — against Elephant Armor Academy, Shrek neutralized the enemy’s formation by concentrating attacks on its strongest anchor, Hu Yanli. 218
- Aerial repositioning — Oscar’s Flying Mushroom Sausages allow the team to escape dangerous ground engagements and gain altitude. 97 319
- Sustained fighting — Oscar’s Recovery Sausages restore expended Soul Power, allowing frontline members such as Dai Mubai to continue fighting after heavy consumption. 217
- Team amplification — Ning Rongrong boosts allies’ attack, agility, and Soul Power recovery, though the support comes at a considerable cost to her own Soul Power. 218 319
- Fusion finishing move — the Sparta Brothers’ Great Wilderness Starfall provides explosive force against concentrated enemy formations. 194 218
History
Great Soul Arena
Shrek Team began competing under masked numerical identities at the Soto Fighting Arena. Its early seven-person roster consisted of Huo Feng, Dai Mubai, Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, Ma Hongjun, Oscar, and Ning Rongrong; Tang San was designated Number Eight and used as a substitute. 71 118
The team’s defining early victory came against the seven-win Berserk Team. After the other members exhausted and injured their opponents, Huo Feng ordered them into the air with Oscar’s Flying Mushroom Sausages, then faced all six remaining opponents alone. His Chain Lightning and Shadow Assault secured Shrek’s victory and ended the Berserk Team’s winning streak. 97 99 101
Flender credited the victory to the entire team’s contributions: Dai Mubai’s balance, Ma Hongjun’s armor breaking, Xiao Wu’s opportunism, Zhu Zhuqing’s speed, and Oscar and Ning Rongrong’s support created the opening Huo Feng exploited. 103
The team subsequently defeated Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s Royal Fight Team, earning recognition from its Education Committee and establishing its reputation beyond the Great Soul Arena. 129 149
Heaven Dou Royal Academy Exchange
Flender arranged for Shrek Academy’s students to join Heaven Dou Royal Academy for one year so they could enter the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. Though the academy itself ceased operating independently, the Shrek Team name was retained. 137 153
By the end of the following six-month period, the original seven core members had all advanced beyond level 40. Huo Feng stood far ahead at level 54 with five Soul Rings and five documented soul skills: Sword Cleaving Strike, Prairie Fire, One Thought God and Demon, Gale Slash, and Gravity Sword Array. 192
Preliminary Tournament
Shrek entered the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament amid ridicule over its uniforms and slogan. The team was deliberately sent into the arena last, and spectators mocked its claim of being “champions without opponents.” 196 198
Their victory over Elephant Armor Academy established Shrek as a major contender. Without Huo Feng or Ning Rongrong taking the field, Dai Mubai led a lineup including the Sparta Brothers; the team broke the Diamond Mammoth users’ defense by disrupting Hu Yanli and striking the formation’s central point. 211 218
Shrek then defeated Blazing Fire Academy through tactical restraint, retaining major unused resources even after the enemy had expended multiple third soul skills. 226 227 The team also defeated Blue Tyrant Academy after Dai Mubai overwhelmed Tang San, prompting the opposing side to concede. 232
After two tactical forfeits against Godwind and Thunder Academies, Shrek’s final preliminary match against Skywater Academy ended in a mutual concession and draw. The team still advanced smoothly into the Promotion Tournament. 232 255
Promotion Tournament
The Promotion Tournament used one-on-one elimination bouts rather than full team battles. Flender rotated the lineup strategically, initially sending Xiao Wu, Dai Mubai, and Ma Hongjun against Barak Academy. 262
Even when Dai Mubai was unavailable, Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing carried multiple matches, with Xiao Wu regularly defeating at least four opponents before Zhu Zhuqing finished the remaining bouts. 279 Shrek ultimately completed the tournament with fourteen straight victories and first place in the Heaven Dou Empire division. 296
Continental Finals
Blazing Fire Academy forfeited their opening Finals match against Shrek, giving the team byes through the first two rounds. 305 When Huo Feng and Ning Rongrong finally entered the tournament, Shrek fielded its full strength and achieved a crushing victory that drew the attention of Spirit Hall. 307
At the Papal Hall, Shrek’s members collectively refused to kneel before Bibi Dong, displaying their unity and independence. 313 In the championship battle against Spirit Hall Academy, Oscar’s Flying Mushroom Sausages enabled the team to escape the range of Xie Yue and Hu Liena’s Martial Soul Fusion Skill, while Ning Rongrong amplified Ma Hongjun and Xiao Wu. 319
Shrek ultimately won the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. Bibi Dong announced the academy as champion and awarded the team three spirit bones. 330
