The old man did not know Ying Gou existed. He nodded. "I think we should enter the forest."

I thought about it some more, then shook my head. "Let's go that way instead. It might be faster."

With that, I headed toward the clearing. The old man called after me, "Hey, why do you trust a Skeleton Frame but not listen to me? You really can't go that way."

But by the time he finished speaking, I had already reached the edge of the clearing. I stopped there, because I realized that the so-called clearing was not easy to cross at all. What I had thought was flat ground was actually a swamp.

If we stepped into it, one careless move could leave us hopelessly trapped.
