Who was he?
He didn't look like a good person.
But he was the only person I had met in this world who could communicate with me.
I had encountered three people in total: the man driving the ox cart, the old woman, and then him.
"Who are you? Where are we going?" I asked him.
He glanced at me. "Don't you want to leave this place?"
I froze for a moment, and he added, "New here?"
I nodded. "Yes. I somehow ended up here."
"Somehow? Come on, we're all Demons and Monsters here, so quit making up Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, will you? Everyone who comes here is after immortality, aren't they?" His face was full of contempt, as though he had heard the most ridiculous lie imaginable.
I gave a bitter smile. It seemed this Void Realm really did have a great deal to do with the Longevity Curse.
"You know how to leave?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I don't know, but someone should be able to take us out of here."
"Oh?" I was a little curious.
"You won't go wrong following me." A smile appeared on his face, one that made me want to throw up. It was far too seductive. I had never seen a man with such an alluring smile before, especially paired with that remarkably distinctive face of his.
"By the way, why is this world so gray? It looks like an old black-and-white movie."
There were colors in this world, actually, but they were strange, like the artificial coloring on early black-and-white photographs. They didn't look real.
"If you're asking me, who am I supposed to ask? It was like this when I got here."
