We followed the Doctor to a small building. This was his residence in the Void Realm.
"Is this a special space too?"
Yuan Jiang asked curiously, his gaze never ceasing to examine this world.
"It is, more or less," the Doctor said. "But it is still within the Void Realm. I merely marked off a small area. This river is actually the little ditch you saw beneath Terrifying Ridge before."
A little ditch? I seemed to remember it. At the foot of the mountain, that ditch had been less than a foot wide, yet the river before us stretched so far that the opposite bank was nowhere in sight.

"So you marked off this small area and cut it away from the Void Realm, turning it into an independent world. They would never notice, because the Void Realm was only missing a palm-sized piece, and no one would think to look beneath Terrifying Ridge. You pulled a trick right under their noses?"
The Doctor smiled. "That's right, but I had no choice. If I hadn't used such a method and had kept hiding in the Void Realm, he would have caught me long ago. I might not even have known how I died."
