I didn't know what else we would encounter on the road ahead.

The little ladybug led us into a forest.

The forest was dense, with barely any paths through it.

I had no idea where the Doctor had found this patch of land. At that moment, I felt as though I had entered a primeval jungle.

Zhang Jing was beginning to doubt whether the little ladybug was leading us the right way. She told me to be careful too. It was as though she suspected that this ladybug was no longer the same one as before, perhaps no longer trustworthy.

I thought perhaps our conversation earlier had given her that idea.

But I didn't dare say she was wrong to think that way.

At the very least, I felt there was something strange about this forest. How could Xiao Wanzi possibly be hiding in here?

"Little guy, can you talk?" I raised my hand, and the little ladybug landed in my palm.

"I can only give simple responses. I may not be able to answer too many of your questions." The little ladybug actually responded. Its voice was very soft, but the forest was quiet enough that we could still hear it clearly.

Zhang Jing's eyes widened. "It actually answered you? How is that possible? Other than Xiao Wanzi, none of the other ladybugs have voice functions."

I frowned. "Is that so?" I looked at the little ladybug. If Zhang Jing wasn't lying, then this little ladybug hadn't been created by the Doctor—or it had been modified by someone.

The little ladybug said, "We do have voice functions. They were simply disabled by the system before."

I looked at Zhang Jing, and she nodded.

I asked, "Then who enabled that function for you?"

"Xiao Wanzi."

"Why did it do that?"
