"You can't tell him!" The woman tried to stop her companion, but her companion had been frightened by Ye Jinghong and immediately gave up the mastermind behind it all. "It was Zeng... Zeng Dajiang!"
It was as if I'd been struck by a bolt from the blue. My first reaction was naturally disbelief.
How could it be Zeng Dajiang? How could it possibly be Zeng Dajiang? He was me in my youth. My younger self wanted to kill my present self—just thinking about it felt absurd.
But under these circumstances, I believed this assassin wouldn't lie.
Still, the answer was truly hard for me to accept.
I didn't know when Ye Jinghong had arrived in the Void Realm. Even now, I hadn't had the chance to speak more than a few words with her.
And she didn't seem to want to talk to me either. Her attitude toward me was icy.
"Do you know what you're saying?" I asked the female assassin. She nodded. "That's right. He sent us. If it weren't for him, we couldn't have found you so quickly."
Monkey looked at me strangely. "I have to say, your younger self is pretty interesting. He actually wants to kill you. What I can't figure out is why."
I wanted to know the answer too.
Ye Jinghong said blandly, "Because you got in the way of his plans. You want him to leave the Void Realm, but he's put a great deal of effort into the Void Realm. I don't know what kind of game he's playing, but he definitely doesn't truly want to leave."
He wanted to kill me over that?
Even if he wanted to do something and didn't want to leave yet, he could have told me. Why did he have to use such extreme means?
